Blues and Rock and Roll
I meet people all the time who say they love Rock and Roll, but they don’t like Blues. I don’t think these people realize that without the influence of Blues music, Rock and Roll would not be the same. These people don’t realize how many Rock and Roll guitar players were heavily influnced by the Blues genre. Many guitar players spent hours playing through the blues, before they ever joined a rock band. After listening to the phrasing of John Mayer’s guitar solos, it’s easy to see that he was extremely influenced by the one and only blues master Stevie Ray Vaughn.
