Avoid dead water

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

A “pool” is an area where fast flowing water enters a deeper pool of water. Often found just after riffles, a pool offers little in the way of prospecting in the interior. It does, however, offer excellent prospects in the areas where water flows in. More than a few species of fish feed at such locations as the water flowing into the pool brings food and nutrients with it. “Dead water” refers to an area where there is little or no current. This tends to occur in odd geographic areas, large rivers or areas with flow problems. Dead water is rarely a good place to fly fishing, so avoid it like the plague.

Begging my mom for Air Jordans for Christmas

Friday, November 6th, 2009

I can remember back to when I was around ten or eleven…I begged and pleaded with my mom to buy me a pair of new authentic Jordans for Christmas.  I totally believed that if I had those shoes on my feet that I would be able to run faster, jump higher, and score more points in my basketball games.  You have got to hand it to Nike and Jordan Brand, they really did an awesome job of marketing this shoe to the general public.  I can remember every single one of my friends asking their parents for the same thing as a gift for their holiday.

I am Worried About my Little Boy

Monday, November 2nd, 2009

I am really worried about my little boy. He doesn’t respect authority, and he hangs around with kids who think it’s cool to disobey. He’s only six years old, but already he’s gotten caught shoplifting. If I don’t stop it now, I know that it will only get worse. I am afraid that I am going to be visiting him in jail ten years from now. I think it’s time to put him in Indianapolis Martial Arts classes. He’ll think he’s doing it so he can be tougher than other kids his age, but really he’ll be learning discipline and respect. Hopefully, by the time he realizes what has happened it will be too late.

The Start UP Rocks

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

The key to running any race is what you achieve in the start up.  Creating a great acceleration speed right in the beginning of the race tells your body to expect to be pushed hard and to the limits.  The push off, whether on land or in the water thrusts the body forward creating velocity.  Maximum velocity is just another way of saying full speed ahead.  When this is achieved you need to fight the urge to continue pushing, but instead concentrate on maintaining  and even decelerating.  The athlete who learns this concept is the one who will run, or swim,  the fastest and run or swim the furthest.

One reason to wear a sauna suit

Monday, October 19th, 2009

I know I need to lose a few more pounds to make myself feel a little better about myself. I do not want the doctor to look at me and tell me to lose more weight again. This coming from a chunky short man who probably has not worked out in a few years. I was surprised he did not hand me a few sauna suits and tell me to wear them all the time. I do not think I have ever tried one on ever. Maybe if I can not lose this last 5 pounds I will have to try it.

Integrate Jumping Exercises in Everything You Do

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009

Before you can dunk, you need to know how to jump – not simply jumping but jumping higher. To improve on how to jump and how to dunk, there are leg exercises that can be adopted for a daily routine. While standing, you can stand on your toes then put down the heel and do it repeatedly. Jumping is also a good exercise. Aim higher for each jump. Jogging is also a good prerequisite on how to dunk because it strengthens the leg and the heart and blood vessels. Exercising with the jumping rope is also a good option. Of course, the first in line should always be muscle stretching. It improves blood and oxygen circulation in the muscles and it gives a relaxed feeling.

Building Muscle Through Dedication

Sunday, October 4th, 2009

When you want to see extraordinary results, you have to put in extraordinary effort. I learned this a long time ago with the different areas of my life but it really applies fully to the process of muscle building. I have seen the difference the extra dedication makes when I really focus my efforts. This is true when it comes to  working out and the dietary portion as well. I also find that the supplements I am able to use really support me in getting to my smaller goals much faster and of course will be a factor in reaching my final ending goal.
