Ferret Pet Insurance
Part of the responsibility of owning a ferret is making sure your pet gets necessary vetrinary care, and ferret pet insurance is one of several possibilites for accomplishing that goal. In addition to a cage, food and water, your pet ferret has some hidden costs that most new ferret owners don’t anticipate. Ferrets need to be vaccinated against rabies and distemper. Also, there are some expensive medical conditions a ferret can develop- like insulinoma (islet cell tumors) or ferret adrenal disease. You also have to expect the unexpected- there will be some emergency medical care, as ferrets are fearless and will get into trouble unless carefully supervised.
It’s not uncommon to come home from the vet with a bill for several hundred dollars- so ferret pet insurance may be a good idea. Be sure to carefully read the benefit schedule from the insurance provider, frequently many of the more costly procedures are excluded from coverage.
