Teaching in a Rough Economy

The economy is in the toilet. In the United States and just about each other country in the world this statement is true. Local municipalities are practicing in wasteful spending and fully inane job cuts for example police, fire, sanitation workers, and teachers. Much less and less school districts are hiring teachers and the teaching jobs which are available are becoming much more and more challenging to get. The competition is higher and teaching prospects are willing to work for less and less money. Which means in turn, teachers are willing to do less and less work. I can recall from my childhood, teachers telling me that they were up all evening grading papers. These kind of days, teachers are given additional days off and schools are closed to ensure that teachers can catch up on their after school work. The day does not end when the bell rings for teachers. No less than in my opinion, it should not.
